Child Care Benefit (CCB) is a payment from the Australian Government that is designed to assist parents, foster parents or grandparents with the cost of childcare. What are my payment options for CCR?

You have the option to receive your CCR paid fortnightly, either directly to your bank account, or through your child care service provider as a fee reduction. You also have the option of having your CCR paid quarterly or annually as a lump sum directly to your bank account.

How much CCB can I get?

For CCB approved care all families can get up to 24 hours of CCB per child per week. To get up to 50 hours you and your partner need to be working, training or studying for at least 15 hours per week (or 30 hours per fortnight) or have an exemption from this test.

How does child care rebate work?

Eligible families will receive a subsidy equal to the actual fee charged, up to 120% of the Child Care Subsidy hourly rate cap, for up to 100 hours per fortnight. The family will not have to meet activity test requirements. This support will be provided for a maximum of 13 weeks per event.

Does everyone get child care benefit?

This benefit is a non-taxable amount paid to lower-income families with children under 18 years of age. The quarterly amounts are issued separately from the CCB and Alberta family employment tax credit (AFETC) in August 2020, November 2020, February 2021, and May 2021.

CCB payments are calculated using the following information:

Relevant childcare costs are calculated by aggregating the average weekly childcare costs for each child for whom charges are incurred and rounding them up to the nearest whole pound. It is important only to include costs that the claimant actually incurs and pays for.
